Meet our ex-military free-fall jump masters and tandem masters from the U.S. Army Special Forces
On Saturday, you’ll travel to Talkeenta and check into the Susitna River Lodge. The rooms are prepared for four persons so you will share the cabin with three other jumpers and make new friends very quickly. Private rooms are available at additional charge. The cabins are located on the banks of the Susitna River.
After the Check-in, you’ll meet the jump staff and get acquainted with your assigned jump master and tandem masters. Our jump masters are ex-military free-fall jump masters and tandem masters from the U.S. Army Special Forces and Special Operations Community and are USPA-licensed instructors. FAA-certified master riggers, as well as 18 former Delta Special Forces medics, ensure the highest degree of safety.
Above Alaska - at the edge of our earth
On Sunday morning, we’ll meet at “The Roadhouse” for breakfast and for discussing the extreme jump that we are going to make. Enjoy the incredible scenery and “big food” before we are going to travel to the Talkeetna Airport to climb aboard the Talkeetna Air Taxi aircraft and begin our flightseeing tour of Denali National Park and Mt. McKinley. We’ll land on one of the glaciers where you can take pictures and enjoy the beautiful majesty of the Denali mountain range. Afterwards, the pilot will fly along the same H.A.H.O jump flight path as well as the H.A.L.O Drop Zone (the decision is made by jump master depending on safety circumstances on your jump day).
After the Flightseeing tour, you will return to your cabin and begin your jump training and equipment fitting for your jump. During the fitting, you will receive an insulated flight suit, an HGU 55 flight helmet, an MBU 12 Oxygen mask, ESS ballistic goggles, a balaclava, hand warmers, H.A.L.O / H.A.H.O O2 assembly, a communications pack, jump snow Gaiters and a wrist-mounted GoPro High definition camera.
Working closely with your tandem master, you’ll be trained on the proper usage of each piece of equipment and how to use it during your HAHO or HALO jump. On your jump day, you’ll be assisted by our ground support staff to dress up appropriately, and an individual safety check will be performed several times before boarding the aircraft.
After take-off, we will climb up to 12,000 feet where you will attach your oxygen mask. Just before exiting, you will turn on your bailout assembly, disconnect from the onboard console, hook up to your tandem master, move to the jump door and exit the aircraft …
If we are performing a H.A.H.O jump, your tandem master will deploy the chute just after exiting to begin your canopy ride to the Susitna River. Enjoy the awesome view but do not forget to record your own high definition video! You’ll be able to communicate with your tandem master during the entire jump and if you ask he’ll let you fly the canopy for a while!
After passing the pink lake, you’ll land on the Susitna River at the mouth of Coffee glacier where you’ll climb aboard a bush plane or helicopter which will fly you to a waiting transport vehicle on HWY 3 for the ride back to Talkeetna.
If we are performing an H.A.L.O jump, we will fly ten miles over the Denali range and the Coffee Glacier up to an altitude of 24,000ft and to exit over Spink lake for an exciting 2-minute free-fall. The canopy will be deployed at 5,000ft, and you can enjoy a 5-7 minute canopy ride to the designated landing zone on the Susitna River.
After your jump, the staff will put your video footage on a USB flash drive so you can take it home. Within two weeks, you’ll receive the edited video of your jump, a framed certificate, jump shirt, and high definition pictures of all stages of your adventure on CDs and DVDs.
In touch with Salmons, bears and mother nature.
On Monday morning, 3-6 jumpers will join their tandem masters and will begin to dress for their jump over Denali while the remaining jumpers will meet in the main office at the Lodge and travel to Phantom Salmon Charters for a full day of Trout / Salmon fishing. The jump master will decide if the group will jump a HALO or HAHO after evaluating the weather for the jump day.
